Coaching

Coaching at Castleview LTC is open to all members. All group coaching is managed through the club and we try to offer our members coaching at very attractive rates. Private coaching is arranged between individual members and coaches.

We have a very strong junior coaching programme that caters for all levels and ages. Coaching takes places on Tuesday afternoons during school term, and tennis camps are run during school holidays. Our main coach, William Guiry, provides one-to-one and group sessions for all levels. Whether you’re a beginner and want to learn the basic techniques, build your confidence or focus on specific shots, your game will definitely benefit from coaching.

Junior Group Coaching

Junior Group Coaching with William Guiry takes place every Tuesday afternoon.

3:30pm to 4.30pm for younger players (aged 6 – 8) playing RED Ball,
4:30pm to 5:30pm (aged 8 +) playing ORANGE Ball
5:30pm to 6.30pm (aged10+) playing GREEN Ball
5:30pm to 6.30pm (aged11+) playing YELLOW Ball

Coaching Experience:

William has been coaching since 1992. Having previously worked as a part-time coach, he decided to move to full-time coaching when he was appointed club coach in 2001 at St. Anne’s Tennis Club, Waterford. William was awarded T.I.C.A. Advanced Coach of the Year in 2006. He has been a regional coach, coaching age groups from u/8 up to u/18 ever since.

William has been coaching for several years now in Castleview. His enthusiasm and dedication to promoting our junior players is evident and under his guidance our junior players have developed and matured entering local events and gaining success. William has also organised friendlies for senior members with other clubs, an activity designed to help our less experienced players to gain confidence in their game and go on to play in senior competitions.

Playing Experience:

William is a current Ireland Veterans International player and has represented Ireland in five World Masters Events in Turkey, the USA, Germany, and Portugal. 4 Nations in Southampton 2003, Glasgow in 2007 and Bolton in 2009, the World Team Event in Turkey 2008, San Diego in 2012 as Team captain and as a representative on the Potter Cup Team in 2007, 2010 and 2011, IC of Ireland 2013 vs Luxembourg (A), IC of Ireland 2014 vs Belguim (H), IC of Ireland 2013 and 2017 vs Luxembourg.
